The Licensed Taxi Drivers’ Association (LTDA) has reminded all taxi drivers that they must now join the DBS Update Service when renewing their licences.
Lloyd Baldwin, LTDA Executive Senior Officer, issued the important reminder about the new licence renewals requirement that all taxi drivers must now complete.
The service, which costs £13 annually, is aimed at simplifying the renewal process. Baldwin emphasised that joining the service will alleviate many of the common issues faced by drivers during renewals. He encouraged members who need assistance or are unsure about the process to contact the LTDA for guidance.
The DBS Update Service allows individuals to keep their DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) certificates up to date and enables organisations to check a certificate online, reducing the need for multiple checks. Importantly, drivers need to sign up for the service at their next renewal, not before.
Baldwin said in TAXI Newspaper: “Just a reminder to everybody that we are now required to join the DBS Update service when renewing our licences. I’ve said it before that, once we’ve done this, it takes away a lot of the issues we see at the LTDA when cabbies come to renew.
“It’s £13 a year, by way of a standing order, and if any member needs assistance, or isn’t 100% sure, then please give us a call and we will guide you through the sign-up process. It's important to note that you need to sign up next time you renew, and not now.”
