London licensed private hire driver convicted of touting and having no insurance

A London licensed private hire driver has been fined and issued penalty points on his licence after illegally touting for work and having no valid insurance.

Muntaga Jammeh touted plain clothes CabsUnit officers from the Metropolitan Police Roads & Transport team in January.

The incident happened in Islington North London and led to a court date for Jammeh in February.

Jammeh was successfully convicted at Highbury Corner Magistrates' Court, where he was ordered to pay a fine and costs totalling £237.

In addition, he was issued with eight penalty points on his driving licence.

A spokesperson for the Road & Transport team said Jammeh has now been referred to Transport for London for possible action to be taken in relation to his private hire licence.
