The City Roads Police Unit and City Specials, in collaboration with Transport for London Taxi Private Hire (TfLTPH), conducted extensive checks on taxi and private hire vehicles (PHVs) travelling through the City, resulting in a number of concerning compliance issues and defects being unearthed.

In photos shared online, one PHV was pictured with a conspicuous bright orange clamp cord securely fastened around it, signifying a potential violation. Another image showcased a heavily worn tyre, situated on the inside of the vehicle's wheel.

A spokesperson for the City Police Officers took to social media to provide an update on the operation, stating: "Today, the City Roads Police Unit and City Specials worked in conjunction with TfLTPH to perform checks on Taxi and PHV vehicles traversing through the City.

“Over 50 vehicles were stopped, leading to the discovery of a multitude of compliance breaches and defects, which have been duly reported."
