Liverpool’s licensed hackney carriages have begun receiving updates to their fare meters, in line with new tariff changes recently announced.
According to Liverpool City Council’s Licensing team, the first vehicles attended Great Homer Street Market to carry out the necessary adjustments.
The council confirmed it will continue the process today between 9am and 5pm, and again on Monday 7 April during the same hours.
A spokesperson said on social media: “The first Liverpool HCVs attended Gt Homer St Market to have their meters updated with the new tariff. We are there again today 9am - 5pm and then next Monday 7 April 2025 between the same times.”
An image shared by the licensing team showed a full car park at the market, with rows of black cabs present for the updates.
Drivers are expected to ensure their meters reflect the new tariffs by attending one of the arranged sessions.
