A taxi driver in Liverpool has been reported and had his vehicle licence suspended after roadside checks revealed one of the cab's tyres was below the legal limit.

Liverpool City Council's Licensing team took to social media to highlight the offence confirming one of the front tyre's inside edge was bald and the tread was below 1.6mm - the minimum legal requirement.

A spokesperson for the licensing team, said: "LCC HCV [hackney carriage vehicle] Suspended for having an illegal tyre as readings were below 1.6mm.

"Driver to be reported for the offence."

The vehicle will remain suspended until the tyre is replaced with a legal one.
