A hackney carriage taxi driver and a private hire driver licensed with Liverpool City Council have been reported and their vehicles issued prohibition notices for operating with at least one illegal tyre each.

During a night of enforcement checks by the council's licensing team, a number of vehicles underwent roadside safety checks.

Taking to social media to highlight both offences, a spokesperson for the council first noted the private hire driver, saying: "Private hire vehicle inspected and found to have an illegal tyre.

"Driver issued with prohibition notice for the vehicle and driver will be reported for the offences. Driver and customer safety is always paramount."

A spokesperson then went on to tweet that on the same night of enforcement a hackney carriage taxi driver was also found to be operating with a tyre below the legal tread limit and they were also reported.
