Britannia Taxis, a well-established name in the North West private hire industry, has rebranded as Veezu.
The move comes nearly a year after Veezu acquired the operator in May 2023. The rebrand aligns with Veezu’s strategy to deliver a connected and tech-focused service across the region.
Founded in Knowsley in 1988, Britannia Taxis has operated for more than three decades in the Liverpool City Region and St Helens. It grew its reach in 2013 by expanding into St Helens, and later strengthened its presence with the acquisitions of Davy Liver in 2017 and Bluestar in Wigan in 2023.
Veezu, now the UK’s largest private hire technology business, partners with over 16,000 self-employed drivers and operates in more than 50 locations nationwide.
Passengers in Knowsley, St Helens, Wigan and surrounding areas will continue to receive the same local service but with access to new technology, more payment options, and enhanced app-based features through Veezu.
Veezu's Regional Operations Director, Chris Neary, said: “We’ve always believed that better travel starts locally – with trusted driver-partners, smart tools and a service people can rely on. By bringing Britannia Taxis under the Veezu name, we’re creating a simpler, more consistent experience for passengers across Liverpool and its surrounding areas. We’re investing in new technology, improving access to transport, and continuing to support the communities we serve through hyperlocal investment.”
