A Liverpool City Council licensed private hire driver has had their vehicle licence suspended after roadside checks revealed they were operating with an illegal tyre.

Pictures of tyre, posted on social media by the council's licensing team, show the tyre to be below the legal limit of 1.6mm.

Being caught driving on an illegal tyre can result in a fine and 3 penalty points.

A spokesperson for the council said, via their Twitter account @lcc_licensing: "Liverpool PHV suspended this evening for operating with an illegal tyre fitted, driver to be reported for the offence.

"Easily avoided if regular checks had been carried out on the vehicle prior to starting a shift."
