Liverpool PHV driver reported after licence plate found stuck on sun visor
A Liverpool City Council licensed private hire vehicle (PHV) driver has been reported after enforcement officers find driver displaying the car’s licence plate on the sun visor, rather than on the rear of the vehicle.
The car, a Volkswagen Touran, was discovered parked on Water Street without its mandatory rear PHV plate.
The absence of a critical identifier not only poses a safety risk but also undermines the efforts of the council to maintain a regulated and safe private hire environment in the city.
The spokesperson confirmed that the driver will be reported for the offence.
A Liverpool City Council Licensing spokesperson said via social media: “This Private Hire vehicle was parked up on Water Street last night. No rear licence plate was being displayed as the driver had it on his sun visor! Driver to be reported for the offence.”
