Liverpool City Council is reviewing the availability of wheelchair accessible vehicles (WAVs) and other transport adaptations across the city’s hackney carriage and private hire sectors.
The council has commissioned independent consultancy LVSA to conduct a survey on the issue. The consultation aims to assess demand and identify any gaps in service for passengers with mobility needs.
The survey is open to all users of licensed taxi services in Liverpool, with a particular focus on people who require WAVs or additional assistance. Parents and carers of children with mobility needs are encouraged to take part.
Responses are anonymous, and personal details will not be shared with the council. The data will be securely stored and destroyed 12 months after the findings are presented.
The survey is available until 5pm on Monday 31 March 2025. Those unable to complete it themselves can have someone assist them. People responding on behalf of others should specify how many individuals they are representing.
Liverpool City Council will use the findings to inform future decisions on taxi accessibility in the city.
