A joint licensing operation at Manchester Airport has led to more than 30 taxi and private hire vehicle checks being carried out by Greater Manchester Police’s Commercial Vehicle Unit (CVU) and City of Wolverhampton Council Licensing.
The enforcement action took place yesterday. Officers focused on verifying licensing conditions and compliance among taxis operating at the airport.
During the checks, four drivers were issued with compliance notices. One driver had their taxi licence suspended following further investigation.
The operation forms part of ongoing collaborative efforts between police and licensing authorities to maintain taxi and private hire standards and ensure public safety at major transport hubs.
A Greater Manchester Police Traffic spokesperson said: “Officers from CVU were working in partnership with City of Wolverhampton Council Licensing earlier today at Manchester Airport.
“During the operation, over 30 taxi checks were conducted, with 4 drivers receiving compliance notices and 1 driver having their taxi licence suspended.”
