Impatient motorist drives wrong way along motorway to avoid traffic caused by closures
A motorist will spend a date at court after officers from the North West Motorway Police caught him driving the wrong way along the M57.
The impatient driver couldn't be bothered to wait for traffic to be diverted due to a number of road closures put in place along the M57, and instead decided that driving the wrong way along the road was the right way forward.
Driving straight into another road closure, the driver was met by officers, who after checking the driver's licence, found he had in fact already accumulated 9 points on his licence.
The unnamed man will now be summoned to court and is likely to have his licence taken from him.
It's also highly likely that he will face a hefty fine for the offence.
A spokesperson for Merseyside's Road Policing Unit said on Twitter: "Whilst patrols had several closures on the M57 due to a concern for safety one selfish driver couldn't be bothered waiting so drove the wrong way down the M57 where he drove straight to a closure and an officer.
"Already on 9 points and now reported again. Off to court."
