Highly compliant Wolverhampton private hire vehicle drivers checked during Liverpool operation
A joint operation in Liverpool involving compliance officers from City of Wolverhampton Council, Merseyside Police, and Liverpool City Council has revealed a strong level of adherence to regulations among Wolverhampton-licensed vehicles.
The initiative, supported by Merseyside Traffic Police and Police and Crime Commissioner Emily Spurrell, included detailed inspections of licensed taxis and private hire vehicles operating in the area. Out of 20 vehicles licensed by Wolverhampton, 19 were found to be fully compliant with licensing and safety standards.
Liverpool City Council Licensing also conducted checks on its own fleet of licensed vehicles during the operation. Several vehicles were however flagged for defects, with notices issued to address the faults. In addition, unauthorised vehicles attempting to use taxi ranks were penalised with Fixed Penalty Notices.
The collaboration reflects ongoing efforts to uphold safety and compliance standards across regions and demonstrates the ongoing cross border partnerships between licensing authorities and enforcement bodies.
A City of Wolverhampton Council Public Protection spokesperson said: “Last night in Liverpool, Compliance Officers, in partnership with Merseyside Police, Merseyside Traffic Police and Merseyside’s Police & Crime Commissioner Emily Spurrell, conducted thorough vehicle checks and found an excellent level of compliance. 19 out of 20 city of Wolverhampton Council vehicles fully compliant.”
