Avon and Somerset Police, alongside North Somerset Licensing, carried out a taxi compliance operation at Bristol Airport on a cold Thursday morning.

Officers checked around 50 vehicles to ensure they met licensing regulations.

PC Patrick Quinton, known as the force’s ‘Taxi Cop’, reported that the majority of taxis were fully compliant. Only a few minor issues were found, mainly related to badges and signage. North Somerset licensed drivers were reminded to display door signs where required, though exemptions apply to vehicles licensed by Bristol City Council and South Gloucestershire Council.

Officers also inspected several vehicles suspected of operating without a licence. All were confirmed to be compliant, easing concerns over illegal taxi activity in the area.

The operation highlighted strong adherence to licensing rules among drivers at Bristol Airport. PC Quinton added: “Great compliance rates today, thank you.“
