Aviation Policing officers, in collaboration with Transport for London’s (TfL) Cab Enforcement Team, have intensified patrols at Heathrow Airport to address illegal taxi and private hire activities.
During a recent operation, a male suspect attempted to flee but was apprehended and is scheduled to appear in court.
This enforcement action is part of a broader initiative to combat unauthorised taxi and private hire vehicle operations at Heathrow. Mayor Sadiq Khan confirmed that TfL has identified over 60 cases of illegal taxi and private hire activity at the airport, employing both uniformed and covert patrols to target offenders.
To support compliance, Heathrow Airport has established designated waiting areas equipped with amenities for drivers, including the Authorised Vehicle Area and the Taxi Feeder Park. These facilities are intended to reduce the impact of taxi and private hire vehicles on surrounding communities.
TfL and local authorities continue to monitor and enforce regulations to ensure the safety and orderliness of transport services at Heathrow Airport.
A Heathrow Aviation Policing spokesperson said: “Aviation Policing plain clothes officers from the Safer Airport Team and Cab enforcement team from TfL have been out conducting patrols at Heathrow Airport. A prohibited male made off from police but was caught, arrested and due to appear in court in the morning.”
