Gunshot fired at black taxi in Central London prompts police investigation



Police are investigating a firearm discharge that occurred in Westminster, central London, earlier today.


Authorities were called to Dean Street at 10.10am on Tuesday 1 October, following a report of a gunshot.

The incident involved a London black taxi, whose driver reported that the vehicle was stationary in traffic when a shot was fired, striking the window. Fortunately, there were no injuries.


The Metropolitan Police have launched a formal investigation into the shooting, and road closures are in effect as inquiries continue. No further details on the suspect or motive have been disclosed at this stage.

The police are urging any witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.


A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “Police were called at 10:10hrs on Tuesday, 1 October to a report of a firearms discharge on Dean Street, Westminster.


“The driver of a London black taxi reported he was stationary in traffic when a shot was fired towards his vehicle, striking the window.


“There were no injuries.


“An investigation has been launched and road closures remain in place.”
