The Taxi Centre, one of the UK’s leading suppliers of vehicles to the private hire and taxi sector, is celebrating 20 years in business.

Since it started serving independent taxi drivers and firms in 2001, the Glasgow-based company has sold more than 30,000 vehicles directly to customers. Cars and minibuses provided by The Taxi Centre have been purchased by firms and drivers in towns and cities throughout the UK, with many customers regularly returning to replace their vehicles.

In 2020, The Taxi Centre invested £100,000 in a new location on Kennishead Road in Glasgow, offering customers a dedicated indoor showroom for the first time and allowing it to expand its team into double figures.

Known for introducing many drivers and firms to the SKODA range, The Taxi Centre is also an approved supplier of Toyota, Mercedes-Benz, SEAT, MG, Volkswagen, Kia, and Ford vehicles, among others.

Stephen Porter, Branch Manager, who has worked at The Taxi Centre since its first day of business, said: “It’s been a fantastic couple of decades. We’ve grown from four people in the corner of another dealership, to becoming a leading and respected retailer in our own right.

“Our success and growth are down to the hard work of my colleagues and their excellent sales and aftersales service to customers. The Taxi Centre is known throughout the industry as a leading supplier of vehicles and is always looking at how to maximise value for customers.

“We were one of the first to recognise the SKODA Octavia as an ideal private hire vehicle, and now it is the workhorse of the taxi trade. We are still at the leading edge and have made huge strides towards filling the country’s ranks with electric, hybrid and ultralow emissions vehicles.”
