London taxi app, FREENOW, has announced a £500 bonus for female taxi drivers who sign up by 31 March, marking International Women’s Day with a financial boost.

The initiative aims to encourage more women to join the profession while promoting a more diverse and inclusive taxi service across the capital. New female drivers will also benefit from a 0% commission rate for their first six weeks on the platform.

FREENOW’s offer forms part of a wider commitment to supporting taxi drivers with flexible earning opportunities. The company also provides access to accident and sickness insurance, parental and compassionate leave, and discounts on EV charging through partnerships with OVO and bp pulse.

Female drivers looking to take advantage of the offer must complete their registration by the deadline to receive the bonus.

Nour Rasamny, Head of Operations at FREENOW UK, said: "We are thrilled to celebrate International Women's Day by offering this exclusive bonus to female taxi drivers. We believe in fostering a diverse and inclusive community of drivers, and this initiative is a testament to our commitment to supporting women in the industry.

“However, with black cab vehicle numbers at a 40 year low and the number of female cab drivers also declining -  only 1.5% of all black cab drivers in London are women - we call for urgent action from TfL and the Mayor of London to actively encourage more people to become black cab drivers to ensure Londoners and visitors can continue to enjoy the unique service they provide.”
