Four arrested after terrifying imitation firearm incident in Bolton taxi
Four people have been arrested after a terrifying imitation firearm incident occurred in a Bolton taxi.
In the early hours of this morning, Greater Manchester Police were called to Tonge Road in Little Lever, Bolton, following reports of a firearm used to intimidate a taxi driver. The incident, which occurred around 3am, fortunately resulted in no serious injuries.
Upon investigation, authorities confirmed the weapon was an imitation firearm, which has since been recovered. Police have assured the public there is no ongoing risk to community safety following the incident.
Four individuals, three men and one woman, all in their 20s, were arrested in connection with the event. They currently remain in police custody pending further questioning.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: “At around 3am today (Monday, May 20) we received reports of a firearm being used to intimidate in a taxi on Tonge Road in Little Lever, Bolton.
“Thankfully no serious injuries were reported at the scene and was later confirmed to be an imitation firearm. This has been recovered and there is no wider threat to the community.
“As a result, four arrests, three men and one woman in their 20s, were made shortly after and remain in custody for questioning.
“If anyone has information that may help with enquiries, they are asked to call 101 quoting incident 305 of 20/05/2024.”
