FIRST BYD PHEV IN EUROPE: The SEAL U DM-i debuts in UK
Chinese automotive giant BYD has announced the UK pricing for its first plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) in Europe, the BYD SEAL U DM-i.
This new entrant into the UK market marks a significant milestone for BYD as it brings its cutting-edge Super DM (Dual Mode) Technology to European shores. The SEAL U DM-i offers a blend of advanced technology, premium features, and competitive pricing, positioning itself as a formidable player in the D-segment SUV category.
The SEAL U DM-i is a spacious, five-seater SUV designed to deliver both comfort and efficiency. It leverages BYD's Super DM technology, which emphasises electric driving with minimal reliance on petrol. This technology is integrated with a 1.5L hybrid engine, known for its thermal efficiency, and the robust BYD Blade Battery. The result is a vehicle that provides impressive energy efficiency, low fuel consumption, and a quiet, smooth ride reminiscent of a fully electric vehicle.
The SEAL U DM-i is available in two trims. The all-wheel-drive Design trim is priced at £39,905, while the front-wheel-drive Boost trim is available for £33,205. Customers can choose from four exterior colours: Delan Black, Time Grey, Snow White, and Tian Qing. Each trim is equipped with BYD’s high-power electric motors and offers a substantial range, making it suitable for both city driving and longer journeys.
Adopting an ocean-inspired design, the SEAL U DM-i boasts sleek lines, a distinctive X-shaped front, and U-shaped headlights. The interior is equally impressive, featuring vegan leather seats, a 15.6-inch rotatable touchscreen, and a panoramic sunroof. The vehicle also provides ample legroom and a spacious boot, with rear seats that can be folded to increase luggage capacity.
The SEAL U DM-i is packed with advanced technology, including a smart cockpit system with 4G connectivity, OTA updates, and a premium audio system. Safety features are comprehensive, with an advanced driver assistance system and a body structure designed for optimal occupant protection. The vehicle also includes a handy Vehicle to Load (V2L) feature for powering devices on the go.
BYD offers a robust warranty package for the SEAL U DM-i, including a six-year manufacturer’s warranty, an eight-year battery warranty, and an eight-year warranty on the electric motor. The SEAL U DM-i is now available for order through official BYD dealer partners across the UK, with sales commencing in September.
