FAMILY MOBILITY: Can a TWIN PUSHCHAIR fit into a London style black cab taxi?

Black cabs in London and other UK cities provide a practical transport solution for families travelling with young children, especially those using standard or even twin pushchairs.
The design of these purpose-built taxis includes a wider entry point on the passenger side. This wider opening is part of the cab’s wheelchair accessibility features and also benefits parents using prams and buggies. It allows enough space to wheel in even a side-by-side twin pushchair without needing to collapse it or lift it awkwardly.
Entry is made easier when the driver can pull up close to the kerb, letting parents wheel the buggy straight in via the passenger-side ramp door. The driver-side door is narrower by comparison, so it’s recommended to use the ramp-equipped passenger side when boarding with larger prams.
Unlike standard saloon cars, where boot space or door width can be a challenge, black cabs offer a flat, spacious area in the rear.
Travelling by black cab is often more convenient for families compared to using other public transport. Some tube stations still lack step-free access, and busy platforms or trains can make it difficult to board with a pram, let alone a twin-width buggy. Buses can also be unpredictable when already carrying wheelchairs or other prams, due to space limitations.
With guaranteed space, step-free access and no need to lift or fold equipment, black cabs continue to serve as a popular and reliable choice for parents moving about the city with young children.
