Electric hire bikes reported to Westminster council after blocking working taxi rank with FIFTEEN bikes
Electric hire bikes blocking vital taxi ranks are continuing to wreak havoc in Central London as drivers pleas for help.
A taxi driver, known as 'And' on social media, was the latest to recently highlight a growing issue in central London by posting pictures of a taxi rank obstructed by FIFTEEN hire bikes. This rank, located on Buckingham Gate, serves several busy hotels.
In their post, And said: "Limebikes being docked on Buckingham Gate taxi rank AGAIN!! Unable to get on to a working rank, please can you do something about this."
Blocked taxi ranks present significant problems for taxi drivers trying to service the area. When ranks are obstructed, drivers cannot access them, leading to delays and lost fares. It also disrupts the flow of traffic and can cause congestion in already busy areas.
Taxi drivers have expressed increasing concern over the frequent misuse of essential taxi ranks by hire bikes and e-scooters in Westminster. This growing issue not only affects their ability to provide timely service but also impacts the overall efficiency of transport in the area.
A London Cab Ranks Committee member confirmed they have reported the bikes to Westminster City Council.
