Driver flees after collision leaving taxi driver trapped in vehicle

Cleveland Police are appealing for information following a serious road traffic collision in Eaglescliffe in the early hours of Sunday morning.


The incident, which took place at around 1.10 am on 27 October, involved a Mercedes and a taxi on Yarm Road. The driver of the taxi was trapped in the vehicle and required assistance from the fire service to be extracted. Paramedics then attended to the taxi driver at the scene.

The driver of the Mercedes failed to stop following the crash. Cleveland Police have confirmed that an investigation is underway to locate the individual responsible.


Authorities are urging anyone with information or potential witnesses to come forward as enquiries continue.

A Cleveland Police spokesperson said: "At around 1.10am on Sunday 27 October, police received calls of a collision on Yarm Road in Easglescliffe. The collision involved two vehicles – a Mercedes and a taxi.


"The driver of the taxi was trapped and had to be extracted by firefighters before receiving treatment from paramedics. Enquiries are ongoing to locate the driver of the Mercedes who failed to stop at the scene."
