A drunk driver blows nearly 3.5 times drink-drive limit after collision with taxi driver in North Yorkshire.

Police were called to a road traffic incident after a Ford C Max was involved in a collision with the taxi before crashing into a fence following the exchange of details.

North Yorkshire Police officers arrived at the scene on Woodlands Drive on 23 September. After initial investigations, officers breathalysed the driver of the Ford C Max. The test revealed a reading of 122 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath, almost 3.5 times the legal limit of 35 micrograms.

The driver was taken to hospital where a further evidential blood sample was taken. It also emerged that the driver did not hold a valid driving licence. The vehicle has since been recovered, and the investigation is ongoing.

Police are asking anyone in the area at the time, particularly those with dashcam footage, to contact 101, quoting reference number 12240173862.
