Taxi drivers licensed by Doncaster Council can now apply for a small support grant to assist them financially during such testing times, that have seen work levels drop significantly.

Any taxi driver licensed by Doncaster Council as of 14 October, will be able to apply for a flat payment of £500. If found eligible for the grant, the driver will receive the funds direct to their bank account.

Terms of eligibility: To apply for the support grant you must be a taxi driver who is:

  • Registered as a licensed taxi driver with Doncaster Council on 14 October 2020.

  • Operate as a licensed taxi driver in the South Yorkshire area.

The news comes just days after Barnsley licensed taxi drivers were made aware of a grant, also for the amount of £500, which was made available for them.

A spokesperson for Barnsley Council said: "To support taxi drivers within the region who have suffered loss of income due to wider restrictions having an impact on their trade, a flat payment of £500 is available to each licensed taxi driver.

"This payment will be made from the £30m figure provided to Sheffield City Region to support the region's businesses."
