DiDi install protective anti-coronavirus sheets in ride-hailing vehicles across China

Perry Richardson

Didi Chuxing (DiDi), a leading mobile transportation platform, began rolling out a program to install protective sheets in its ride-hailing vehicles across China.

The protective sheets create a divider between the driver and passenger seats, and are part of DiDi’s anti-coronavirus initiative to prevent droplet transmission of COVID-19.

On the guidance of medical experts, DiDi previously piloted this project in Wuhan, Shenzhen, Taiyuan, and a number of other cities. This measure is popular among drivers and riders. The company plans to invest approximately $14.3million for this safety measure in collaboration with millions of drivers.

DiDi is implementing this and other anti-coronavirus initiatives as public health officials call on citizens to use public transportation with caution.

The ride-hailing firm already requires all drivers to wear masks, register their temperatures daily, and disinfect and ventilate their vehicles regularly.

Service stations have been set up in 148 cities to distribute face masks and disinfectants to drivers.
