Day of enforcement sees a number of suspensions issued to taxi & private hire cars in Liverpool
Updated: Dec 17, 2021
A day of enforcement action by Liverpool City Council and Merseyside Police Roads Policing Unit, saw a number of suspensions and defect notices issued to licensed taxi and private hire drivers for operating with unsatisfactory vehicles.
With the lead up to Christmas, many licensing authorities have taken to the roads for additional checks on licensed drivers and vehicles.
Any vehicles found to not be at the standards required of the licensing regulations are issued with notices, either for immediate suspension or ordered to be fixed within a certain timeframe.
Using their official Twitter account @lcc_licensing to highlight the day of action, a spokesperson for the council's licensing team said: "Liverpool Licensing Officers are working with colleagues from Merseyside Roads Policing Unit across Liverpool today conducting roadside and mobile inspections of licensed vehicles.
"A number of suspension/defect notices have been issued and drivers reported for various offences."
TaxiPoint has approached the council for more details on which offences were committed.
