Day of enforcement sees 30 e-scooters seized in Westminster including one rider caught with drugs

30 e-scooters were seized by officers during day of enforcement action in London's Westminster and Lambeth area, including one rider being found in possession of drugs.


Officers from the Metropolitan Police's Charlton and Perivale Vehicle Enforcement Team patrolled both areas on Saturday 3 July as they aim to crack down on the illegal use of e-scooters on public roads and spaces.

A spokesperson for the force, said via their official Twitter account @MPSSpecials: "Yesterday [3July] saw Perivale and Charlton Vehicle Enforcement Team in Westminster and Lambeth targeting the use of e-scooters being ridden illegally.

"A total of 30 e-scooters were seized through the operation."

The force went on to highlight that during the day of action, one e-scooter rider attempted to flee officers who stopped him in the Westminster area.


Officers caught up with the running man, who was then searched. He was found in possession of a large amount of drugs and cash.


A spokesperson for the force said: "The male decided to test our athletic ability and ran. He was detained and found in possession of drugs & cash. Scooter seized & male arrested."
