Curb Flow expands into Florida as licensed taxi tech grows in demand

Curb, a ride-hailing and taxi technology provider operating across North America, has expanded its Curb Flow service to Miami-Dade and Palm Beach County, Florida.

The service, already used in cities such as New York, Los Angeles and Chicago, brings together ride requests from app bookings, fleet dispatches and street hails into a single system. It aims to help licensed taxi drivers locate passengers more efficiently and increase ride availability across busy cities.

Florida’s strong tourism sector and growing population are key drivers behind the move. In 2024, the state recorded 142.9 million visitors, the highest figure to date, according to data released by Governor Ron DeSantis earlier this year.

Miami’s congestion problem also makes it a candidate for more efficient transport solutions. The city ranks sixth in the United States for traffic delays, with drivers losing around 74 hours annually due to congestion, according to the 2024 INRIX Global Traffic Scorecard.

Curb Flow is designed to help address such issues by increasing driver productivity and better distributing vehicles. This can lead to reduced passenger wait times and less reliance on private car use.

The platform supports licensed fleets by improving vehicle use while giving passengers more reliable access to regulated taxi services. As local authorities in South Florida seek ways to tackle congestion and improve transport networks, the Curb Flow model offers a scalable digital tool that fits into broader mobility plans.

Dorel Tamam, Director, Head of Mobile Business Unit at Curb, said: "Palm Beach County and Miami-Dade are vibrant, fast-growing cities with increasing demand for reliable transportation.

"Curb Flow helps meet that need by reducing driver idle time and making licensed taxis more accessible. Streamlined ride connections mean passengers get faster service, while drivers increase earning potential, contributing to efficient urban mobility."

Raul A. Gonzalez, Chief of Passenger Transportation Regulation at Miami-Dade County, said: "Miami-Dade is committed to smarter, safer mobility for everyone.

"As technology advances and commuter needs rapidly evolve both locally and across the country, solutions like Curb Flow are essential. Curb Flow strengthens the overall transportation ecosystem by keeping taxis competitive and visible, improving accessibility, and enhancing our overall mobility operations."
