A Wolverhampton-licensed private hire vehicle has been suspended by Merseyside Police for failing to meet licensing conditions in Liverpool city centre.
Police officers confirmed the action on 2 March, sharing an image of the white Toyota Prius involved. The nature of the breach has not been disclosed.
This latest suspension follows a similar enforcement operation in the city just a day earlier, when another Wolverhampton-licensed private hire vehicle was found in a dangerous condition and taken off the road.
The latest find will likely fuel raised concerns over out-of-town private hire vehicles operating in the city. The issue sparks ongoing debate about cross-border hiring and enforcement powers.
Merseyside Police and local licensing officers continue to carry out compliance checks on taxis and private hire vehicles to ensure safety and regulatory standards are met.
A Merseyside Police Roads spokesperson said: “Tonight, one of our officers have suspended this Wolverhampton taxi for a breach of licencing conditions in Liverpool City Centre.”
