ComCab Liverpool working around the clock to ensure the safe transport of patients and key-workers

ComCab taxi fleet has been working around the clock to keep patients and key-workers in Liverpool safe during travel to and from work and to hospital and health centres.

ComCab Liverpool have said: "Hackney Carriage has been the safest form of transport since day one of the Covid-19 outbreak.

"Liverpool black cabs are fitted with a partition between passenger and driver and are designed specifically for easy cleaning.

"We are working round the clock with a strong fleet of drivers reporting in 24/7. Alongside our regular cab services, we are providing support services including the essential service of patient transport and safe key worker travel, plus courier and delivery work.

"Clients include NHS Trusts, care workers and professional companies such as legal firms that need to ensure safe staff transit.

"Safe practice is key to the smooth running of the service and to minimise risk and worry. This applies equally to our drivers and to our passengers."

The firm has said they have asked their clients to brief their personnel and the following applies to all passengers:

  • Sit on the back seat of the taxi furthest away from the driver

  • Keep windows open to provide ventilation

  • To avoid transit by taxi if they have a new continuous cough, high temperature or fever

  • To thoroughly wash their hands before embarking

  • To carry tissues in case they are caught with a cough or sneeze

  • Pay by contactless card transaction

  • Not to breach the self isolation guidelines.

Taxi drivers have been advised to verify the above points on arrival.

The company has also confirmed that drivers are thoroughly briefed on following safe practice:

  • Drivers will not carry on working if they fall into any of the categories that require them to self isolate

  • Each taxi is equipped with hand gel, wipes and tissues

  • After each journey the cab is cleaned down paying particular attention to windows, door handles and seat belts.

A spokesperson for ComCab Liverpool said: "Our drivers are working hard around the clock to keep Liverpool moving. Our reliability and sticking to the guidelines above means that our corporate account base is growing by the day.

"We remain grateful to all clients that are providing work for our drivers in these unprecedented times."
