Curb has secured a renewed contract with the City of Chicago to continue operating its Centralised Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle (WAV) Taxicab Dispatch Service. The agreement, which started on 1 March 2025, runs for two years with the option of three further renewals.
Curb has managed the city’s WAV taxi service since 2020, streamlining bookings through its digital platform and call-in service. Over the past four years, the initiative has become one of the most effective in the country, achieving a 95% trip completion rate.
Service improvements introduced under Curb’s management include an automated phone system for booking rides and a QR code-based voucher system at O’Hare International Airport, replacing paper vouchers. More than 400 WAV drivers participate in the scheme, with nearly 3,000 additional taxi drivers operating under Curb in Chicago.
Chicago remains one of the largest US cities to run a single-vendor WAV programme. Curb operates in over 65 cities, supporting accessible transport initiatives through its expanding network. Since launching Curb Flow in 2023, the platform’s volume has increased fourfold, enhancing dispatch efficiency and accessibility.
The renewed contract ensures continued service for WAV users, who can book rides via the Curb app or call 1-888-WAV-CABS (888-928-2227).
Amos Tamam, CEO of Curb, said: “Chicago has built one of the most effective WAV programs in the country by making accessibility a priority.
“Since 2020, we’ve worked closely with the city and taxi drivers to make sure WAV service is reliable and efficient. This renewal allows us to continue improving the program and supporting the riders who depend on it every day.”
Ivan Capifali, Acting Commissioner, Chicago Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection, said: “Chicago is proud to be a leader in offering accessible transportation options for residents and visitors.
“The selection of Curb to manage Chicago’s Centralized Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle Taxicab Dispatch Service shows the city’s commitment to providing dependable ways to get around the city. Curb continues to enhance dispatch technology, encourage driver participation and ensure passenger comfort.”
