CCTV appeal after taxi passenger assaults the driver of another taxi following collision in Liverpool

Detectives have released CCTV images of a man they wish to speak to after a taxi driver was assaulted in Liverpool city centre.
The incident occurred around 11.30pm Saturday,15 February, following a minor collision involving two taxis on Paradise Street. Although no damage was caused, a verbal exchange took place between the two drivers.
A passenger from one of the taxis then exited the vehicle, became verbally aggressive, and repeatedly punched the other driver in the face. The victim suffered facial bruising and a cut lip. The suspect fled the scene.
Police have carried out extensive CCTV and witness enquiries and are appealing for information.

Detective Inspector Steve Street said: “This was a nasty assault which left the victim with a black eye and cut to his lip, and it could have been a lot worse.
“This incident took place at a time where it would have been busy with people enjoying the nightlife who will have seen the incident take place on Paradise Street.
“If you were in the vicinity at that time and witnessed the assault then please get in touch.
“I am also appealing to the man featured in the images, or anyone who recognises him, to come forward. We believe he could hold information that could be vital to our continuing enquiries.”
