Cameras to prevent e-scooters being ridden on pavements could be fitted in London

Talks of fitting cameras to e-scooters to prevent them from being ridden on pavements could be fitted to improve safety in London.
The news, first revealed by the Evening Standard, suggests that the cameras could trigger sensors to bring the vehicles to a halt if ridden in an illegal manner.
Transport for London are currently running trial schemes for rental e-scooters. The trials are set to run until at least this June.
Using a rental e-scooter is the only way to legally ride one in the capital without running the risk of prosecution.
Privately owned e-scooters are to be used only on private roads. If police intercept a rider using one on public land, the user runs the risk of having the vehicle seized and fined.
