CabGuideUK data now available to developers without charge

As a response to the current crisis, all of the rich data used to power the CabGuideUK app is now available for licensing by public transport operators for integration into dynamic journey planners and static information resources.

The CabGuideUK dataset maps to place names, postcodes and interchanges. It also maps to all the various codes commonly utilised in journey planning and information systems. The full dataset can be licensed for the first year without any charge or obligation to continue.

CabGuideUK was developed by the team behind the 'traintaxi' travel tool, a comprehensive database listing taxi options at every train, metro, tram and underground station in Britain. The new free-to-download and use CabGuideUK app allows the user to find a cab almost anywhere in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

According to the firm, locating a cab in a remote area or unfamiliar location can sometimes be tricky, but CabGuideUK are looking to provide a trusted, unbiased solution. CabGuideUK say that their database has been meticulously researched, validated and maintained to ensure that the most suitable cab firms are listed. Once downloaded, the user can search for a cab based on place name, postcode, rail, metro or bus station, airport or ferry terminal.

Whilst some other cab-finding apps are location-specific or point the user in the direction of the nearest firm using results based on occasionally old, out of date information, the CabGuideUK say their new travel companion lists cab firms serving each local area and also highlights those offering wheelchair accessible cabs.
