Allianz Partners has teamed up with insurtech broker Indeez to deliver a new digital insurance solution for Uber drivers in the UK.

The product, named Vehicle Interruption Cover (VIC), offers income protection for drivers who are unable to work due to their vehicles being out of service.

The cover is accessible to all Uber drivers enrolled in the Uber Pro programme. It is integrated directly into the Uber driver app and offers a seamless digital experience, made possible by Indeez’s advanced technology platform.

Vehicle Interruption Cover is the latest feature in the Partners Protection Programme, which already provides Uber drivers with workplace accident cover, sick pay, and parental benefits. The addition of VIC aims to strengthen the financial security available to drivers as part of their partnership with Uber.

Plans are underway to roll out the new cover to other markets where Uber operates, ensuring wider access to these protective measures for its global driver network.

Jean-Marc Pailhol, Chief Officer Global Strategic Partnerships and Board Member at Allianz Partners, said: “Vehicle Interruption Cover is an extremely important add-on to the product offering we have jointly developed with Uber, one of our top strategic partners in the mobility ecosystem, to enable them to provide protection for their community of drivers. Our goal is to become the largest provider of insurance and assistance solutions for gig economy workers in Europe, and this product is another step to achieving that. And we’re delighted to offer this service to help ensure members of the growing gig economy are fully protected.”

Hendrik Todte, Director of Uber Affinity U.K., said: “We are keen to offer VIC to our Driving Partners. It is a seamless experience and in the unfortunate case of an accident, drivers can benefit from financial protection to bridge potential downtime.”

Vikas Chhariya, Founder and CEO of Indeez, said: “At Indeez, we're excited to launch Vehicle Interruption Cover with Allianz Partners and Uber, supporting UK Uber drivers when their vehicles are off the road. This initiative reflects our commitment to sustainable, inclusive insurance that fuels partner growth. We're proud to help drivers maintain their livelihoods and look forward to expanding these benefits to more markets.”
