Addison Lee Group's efforts to raise funding to help offer NHS staff free rides to and from work has seen almost £120,000 raised in the first 24 hours.
The London based private hire car firm launched the campaign, using a ‘Go fund me’ page, by donating £50,000 to the cause, which was doubled in no time by generous members of the public as well as the firm's corporate customers.
The funds currently sit at £119,000 with the initial target being £250,000.
Addison Lee Group have said: “Following yesterday’s launch of the ‘Donate A Ride’ campaign to offer free Addison Lee journeys in London to NHS staff, we wanted to thank you – the General Public – for more than doubling our initial £50,000 donation in less than 24 hours.
“Your incredible generosity means we now have a fund of over £100,000 to offer those in the frontline of the fight against the Coronavirus reliable and comfortable travel from home to hospital,free of charge. We’re talking to NHS Trusts now about making these journeys available as soon as possible, and will share regular updates on the campaign.
“We’re humbled at the public response and your determination to be here for London.”
