AA patrols lent their expertise to support the Magical Taxi Tour to Disneyland Paris, a cherished event in London’s taxi calendar.

This year, they helped ensure the success of the trip, which offers over 200 sick and terminally ill children the chance to experience Disney magic.

For years, AA volunteers have played a key role in charity events organised by London taxi drivers, providing technical and logistical help. During the three-day tour, the patrols performed essential vehicle maintenance, including an engine repair in Calais and routine checks on lights and tyres.

Nearly 100 black cabs and support vehicles participated in this year’s 560-mile journey, starting in Canary Wharf and travelling through the Eurotunnel to Disneyland Paris. They were joined by City of London Police, Gendarmerie Nationale, and the London Ambulance Service NHS Trust.

This marked the seventh tour for veteran patrol Andy McMorran, who led a team that included Max Lamond, Simon Cox, and Dan Tyrrell. Their involvement exemplifies the AA’s ongoing commitment to supporting London’s black cab community and the families they serve..

Mortal said: “As AA patrols, we’ve enjoyed a long and successful relationship with London’s taxi drivers and we feel honoured to be asked back on the tour time and again, in addition to keeping these guys on the road all year round. For me, and the other patrols, this is undoubtably one of the main highlights of the year for us.”

Max Lamond, AA Recovery Patrol of the Year, said: “It was an honour for me to be part of something so special. Everyone was so welcoming to the convoy as it passed through the various towns and villages along the route. Seeing the crowds continually waving is something that will stay with me for a long time.”
