Nottingham City Council Licensing have continued their crackdown on the misuse of taxi ranks in the city centre throughout the month of October.

Hackney carriage taxi ranks are only to be used by hackney licensed taxis. General motorists are not authorised to stop or park on taxi ranks, but despite this, some still choose to do so, risking the possibility of being slapped with a fine.

Blocking access to taxi ranks prevents working drivers from plying for hire at that destination.

A total of 70 Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) were issued to vehicles parked on hackney carriage ranks in October. That's one less than the month before which saw a total of 71 PCNs issued.

August saw the highest amount of tickets issued, with a total of 81 PCNs handed out.
