Woman charged £80 cleaning fee after dropping a few Skittles during Uber ride

A female passenger has been charged a whopping £80 as a cleaning fee for leaving a few Skittles on the floor of her Uber ride.
Lydia Williams posted on social media her shock at receiving the charge from the ride-sharing firm, saying: "Can't believe I've had an £80 charge from Uber for the severity of some spilt Skittles."
A screenshot of a message sent from Uber to Lydia Williams was also posted on Twitter.
The message from the Silicon Valley giants said: "sorry to hear about what happened, Lydia.
"A mess that resulted from your trip required professional cleaning. When a cleaning fee request is submitted by your partner-driver, we assess and charge the cleaning fee in accordance with the extent of the mess and the reasonable cost of cleaning.

"Due to the severity of the incident on this trip, a cleaning fee of £80.00 was applied. We've attached a photo from the incident to this message."
Twitter followers had their say about the surprisingly high cleaning fee, with Bill Roche@WestEssexTaxis saying: "That's about four pounds a skittle."
Becky West@BeckyWest19, said: "The amount of times I get charged by @Uber for a longer journey because their drivers haven't got a clue where to go even though they have a sat nav baffles me. Make sure you appeal!"

Even the official Skittles Twitter handle joined in the comments, saying: "it's always polite to leave your driver a few Skittles for their next trip!"
