London traffic cameras capturing 4,000 drivers committing motoring offences every day
It has emerged according to a report in This Is Money, that nearly 4,000 drivers are being captured on a daily basis breaking various traffic laws by London's network of CCTV cameras.
Figures show that the revenue raised from fines dished out to beleaguered motorists exceed £520,000 per day or over £187m per annum.
The fines issued covered banned turn offences, breaching of bus lane restrictions, failing to comply with no-entry restrictions, and box junction offences.
The figures represent a 30% increase in fines issued by the 29 councils and regulatory bodies across London, with the number of fines issued totalling an eye-watering 1,439,942 penalty charge notices.
The statistics were discovered by Click4Reg, after they asked London authorities to reveal the number of penalty charge notices issued the previous year.
