A new hackney carriage taxi hailing app has launched in Mansfield in the hope of competing with ride-sharing apps such as Uber.
The creators of MyCabbii say the new app will ensure safe and reliable rides for passengers.
Colin Cunni has partnered with hackney carriage drivers to produce the app, which they say will ensure customers will receive a fast, reliable and safe journey.
Any hackney carriage driver licenced with Mansfield District Council will have the option to register with MyCabbii and will be available on the app for customers to hail electronically. Just like many of the other similar taxi and private hire booking apps, MyCabbii allows you to hail a taxi in real time without having to make a phone call and in just a few clicks. However, unlike the world's largest ride-sharing app, Uber, MyCabbii will only have hackney carriage drivers working on the platform.
Taxis can be booked in advance, or requested as and when needed. Other features in the app include choosing the size vehicle you need, and tracking their drivers’ location to see how far away they are.
Colin, 28, says the app uses Mansfield District Council registered hackney taxi drivers to ensure passenger safety. As reported in the Chad News, Colin said: “I partnered with a group of hackney carriage drivers in Mansfield when I posted the idea on social media, and got a positive response." He added that when a customer uses the app to hail a taxi, they will be able to see the name and details of the driver that comes to pick them up.
He also said that any complaints are resolved through the app. “We currently have 42 drivers in Mansfield registered with MyCabbii and hope that more will sign up to the service in the future" he said, adding that Mansfield is the first location and they hope to expand to other cities and towns in the future.
