LEVC’S TX Electric Taxi arrives in Bristol

The world’s most advanced electric taxi is now available to test drive at LEVC’s first official aftersales facility for TX in Bristol.

Chandler’s Motor Company is already a franchised aftersales facility for huge automotive names such as Peugeot, Citroen and Renault and now LEVC has been added to that list.

There are currently just 46 places available on the 48hr test drive scheme, operating on a first come first served basis, for hackney carriage drivers considering or open to the switch to TX Electric Taxi. Taxi drivers will get to experience what it is like to live with TX and see the potential fuel savings from charging the vehicle.

Bristol City Council have also loaned two taxi licenses to LEVC so drivers can operate the new TX as a taxi during the period of their loan; something that wouldn’t usually happen due to the restriction on taxi license numbers.

With TX, drivers are expected to save up to £110 per week on fuel and there are further savings to be had on maintenance; service intervals are now 25,000 miles and regenerative braking means there is much less wear on brake pads.

One driver, who operates in London, said “It’s a joy to live with, it’s a joy to work. I actually work harder and longer… and I actually look forward to driving it”. For the driver, there is a whole host of new features, including: heated seats, digital infotainment system, electrically adjustable seat, Bluetooth phone connectivity, parking assist, reversing camera, satellite navigation plus much more.

The fantastic benefits of TX extend to the fully accessible passenger compartment too, with a huge panoramic roof, WIFI connectivity, Phone and laptop charging, plus there is now room for 6 people.

Councillor Steve Pearce, Cabinet Member with responsibility for regulatory services at Bristol City Council, said: “We are pleased to see this new initiative aimed at encouraging cleaner, greener taxis’ in Bristol. We already offer a range of subsidies for taxi drivers to switch to electric vehicles, and we are dedicated to improving air quality in the city, so would encourage all drivers to go along and take a test drive and see what they think. We hope this scheme will lead to more electric taxis on the streets of Bristol, which will benefit the city, the environment and the drivers themselves.”
