Boost for Bolton private hire drivers
Bolton private hire drivers received a boost this week after the Private Hire Operators Association agreed to a 10% fare increase.
Bolton's private hire operators called a meeting after a driver led walkout just before Christmas threatened to cause chaos.
The drivers had claimed that they were earning less than the minimun wage after running costs were deducted from their income.
According to The Bolton News the chairman of the Private Hire Operators Association, Asif Vali, said “We had a meeting the with operators this week. I have yet still to speak to my members, but I do have concerns. I am happy there is a rise being put forward but we would like an extra 10p on the mile."
