15 private hire drivers reported for traffic offences in one day with 2 handed immediate suspensions

On Thursday 13 August, Calderdale Neighbourhood Policing Team worked together with taxi and private hire licencing to tackle traffic offences and taxi checks on Shay Lane, Halifax.
In total, 15 private hire drivers were reported for traffic offences including using a mobile phone and numerous seatbelt offences.
Licensing officers handed out two immediate suspensions to private hire drivers preventing them from continuing to operate. A number of other drivers were given works to be completed for the safety of passengers and upkeep of their vehicles.
A spokesperson for the Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “We will continue to work independently and with other agencies to apprehend those individuals who feel that road traffic law does not apply to them.
“Calderdale neighbourhood policing team are regularly tackling the fatal 4 traffic offences – Speeding, Seatbelts, Drink and Drug driving, and the use of mobile phones whilst driving.”
