10 taxi and private hire drivers caught operating without licences during crack down in Midlothian

10 taxi and/or private hire drivers have been charged with operating without a licence in Midlothian after officers carried out investigations into reports of illegal cab work.


A report for the offences has been submitted by Midlothian Police to the Procurator Fiscal for further action.

The incidents were highlighted by Midlothian Police on social media, with a spokesperson saying: “TAXI/PRIVATE HIRE OFFENCES - Midlothian.


“Officers in Midlothian have been carrying out enquiries into incidents involving drivers operating in Midlothian when they are not licenced to do so. These offences have occurred over a period of time between September 2020 and March 2021.

“A total of 10 Taxi and Private Hire drivers, who are licensed out with Midlothian, have been traced and charged with the offence and a report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”


Details of the individual offences by each driver have not been disclosed.
