Liverpool issues 543 parking fines in just ONE MONTH for private hire vehicles and other cars illegally using taxi ranks

Liverpool City Council parking officers issued 543 penalty charge notices during September to vehicles illegally parked on Hackney Carriage stands across the city.
The enforcement figure was disclosed by Liverpool City Council Licensing, which said private hire vehicles, private cars and vans were among those receiving penalties.
Hackney Carriage stands, commonly known as taxi ranks, are designated spaces for licensed taxis. Private hire vehicles cannot use the ranks in the same way as Hackney Carriages, including while waiting for bookings.
The scale of September’s enforcement indicates parking on designated taxi stands remains a significant compliance issue for the city’s Parking Services team. Illegally blocking a rank space can also reduce the capacity available to licensed taxi drivers, particularly where rank provision is limited.
Liverpool City Council Licensing said: “Our colleagues in Parking Services issued 543 penalty charge notices in September to private hire vehicles, private cars and vans illegally parked on a Hackney Carriage Stand.”
